Today I met with my class to introduce the project to them. I used videos and demonstrated through the use of the book, Making Thinking Visible. I know that these routines or formative assessment are critical to learning and I am interested in trying them out to see student reactions. In addition, this will be a journey for me as I learn to incorporate them into my lessons. Enclosed in this blog entry is my proposal for the grant. It says it all! Well, here I go....the first step I need to take is to work on my classroom environment. I need space to showcase my student's work, or in other words, their 'visible thinking'. A blank slate.... What is critical is how I rearrange my classroom walls - it is a smaller room than normal and space is at a premium - I want to be careful to not overwhelm my student's visually while a the same time allow them to see their creations that will support their learning and allow for discussion.
